Q. What do I need to do to get registered to take the CNA
I test in North Carolina?
We are a Regional Testing Site for North Carolina, however,
you have to register, make payment and your appointment through
www.pearsonvue.com or call the NACES PLUS FOUNDATION at 1-888-282-6904.
Q. Who conducts the Competency Evaluation (CNA 1 TEST) In
NC?
The state has contracted with Pearson Vue to offer the State-Approved
Nurse Aide I Competency Testing and reports candidate’s test
results to the NC Nurse Aide I Registry.
The Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Service (NACES) works
with Pearson VUE to schedule and administer tests. State-approved
Nurse Aide 1 training programs can schedule their students
for testing, or the individual candidates can schedule themselves.
To obtain a candidate handbook, application and test schedules,
visit www.pearsonvue.com , or contact NACES at 1-888-282-6904.
Q. Is there anything else I can do to prepare for the CNA
1 test in North Carolina?
Our videos demonstrate all of the skills listed in the NC
Nurse Aide 1 Candidate Handbook that is used for testing in
NC. You can order a 30 day access for $49 (usually $99) by
clicking the video catalog section of our website.
Q. Can my CNA certification be transferred from another state?
No, the state of NC does not allow reciprocity or listing
transfers from another state. To be listed in North Carolina,
you will have to pass the Nurse Aide 1 competency testing (written
and clinical skills test) which is conducted at our office
(Diversified Nurse Consulting, LLC) by contacting www.pearsonvue.com
and obtaining an application for testing or contact NACES at
1-888-282-6904.
Q. Is CNA training or classes required?
No. However, training is recommended but is not required by
the state of NC for anyone seeking to be listed as a nurse
aide 1 or better known as a CNA 1. Nursing students, nurse
aides from other states, and nurse aides who have allowed their
listings to expire or anyone else may wish to attempt the state-approved
competency evaluation program testing without taking any additional
training. Completion of a state-approved Nurse Aide 1 Training
Program is required if an individual fails three consecutive
competency evaluation attempts.
Q. How long does it take to be listed on the CNA registry?
Successful Nurse Aide I candidates (those who pass both the
skills and written portions of the competency exam) are usually
listed on the registry within two to four business days after
completing the exam. The new listing can be verified online
at www.ncnar.org or by 24-hour Voice Response (919) 715-0562
on the following business day.
